A ductless mini-split cools (and heats) one room or zone without any ductwork. It is the simplest way to bring comfort to a space your central system was never designed to reach: a garage workshop, a converted Florida room, a new addition, or the bedroom at the end of the hall that is always five degrees warmer than the rest of the house.
Lucas Air Conditioning and Heating installs and repairs ductless mini-split systems for homes and businesses across Tavares and Lake County, from our office on Old US Hwy 441.
Mini-splits are the right answer when extending ductwork would be expensive, unsightly or impossible. The most common jobs we see in Tavares are garages and workshops, sunrooms and enclosed porches, room additions, bonus rooms over a garage, and older homes where one side of the house never keeps up in August.
- Garages, workshops and storage rooms
- Sunrooms, Florida rooms and enclosed porches
- Room additions and bonus rooms
- Hot bedrooms and offices your central system can't keep comfortable
- Multi-unit and commercial spaces that need separate zones
Every install starts with a visit. We measure the room, look at sun exposure and insulation, and size the system to the space so it removes humidity instead of short cycling. Then we plan where the indoor head, outdoor unit and line set will go, so the finished job looks clean inside and out.
On install day we mount the indoor unit, set the outdoor unit on a pad, run the refrigerant line set and condensate drain, pull a vacuum, and test the system in both cooling and heating modes before we leave. Because the indoor unit is a heat pump, the same system keeps the room warm on the few cold nights we get.
Ductless systems are not only for homes. At the Colonial Pines apartment complex here in Tavares, our crew replaced 30 split systems and installed 2 ductless units as part of one project (see the project showcase). Offices, small shops and rental units benefit from the same zone-by-zone control.
If your mini-split is blinking an error code, dripping water from the indoor head, or blowing air that isn't cold, we diagnose it for a flat $125 residential diagnostic. Clean filters and a yearly cleaning of the indoor coil and blower wheel keep a mini-split efficient, and we can add ductless units to a Preventative Maintenance Agreement.
